Forgiving "Dissapointing Eyetricks"

The biggest issue in Nothern Ireland this week is the "Horsemeat scandal".

Burgers

"Horsemeat in beef products in County Down, pork DNA in halal pies in County Tyrone - it has not been a good few days for Northern Ireland's meat industry. But how damaging are such headlines to our global reputation as a food supplier?" -link to BBC article-

Tricking the eyes of customers by replacing beef in beef patties with horse meat really did not do much harm to the health of the consumers. However, the issue was not with food safety, it was with the reputation of one of the the most credible food industry. Now people seem to say "Who is to trust?"

Although this issue ended up in BBC, there had been so many smaller issues that didn't make it to the front page. For example, the "Goo-goo bird" teriyaki sold on the streets of our neighborhoods. Whenever we find the truth on news papers, we frown, but why don't we ever see them disappear?
Perhaps our "frown but don"t care" reactions are jeopardizing the credibility of the world around us? I don't know.
